Attention! Calling all Ottawa inventors, tinkerers and creative minds, the 3rd Annual Ottawa Maker Faire will be held at the Canadian Science and Technology Museum August 31 – September 1, 2013.
What Happens at a “Mini Maker Faire”?
Deemed the World’s Largest Show and Tell event, the Maker Faire festival started in the San Francisco bay area in 2006 and has since expanded to dozens of cities across the world. In 2013, there are expected to be over 60 community driven Mini Maker Faires around the globe including Tokyo and Rome.
As a family friendly all-ages event, both children and adults can experience, hands-on, the fascinating output that Ottawa’s creative minds are currently working on. This includes 3D-Printing, robots, open-software and wood working, textiles and more!
An example, of the type of DIY (Do-it-yourself) hacks you may find at a Mini Maker Faire is shown in the video below. In this case, “How-to” instructions on making a “Digital Magic 8 Ball” – very cool!
