Ottawa Maker Faire 2015 Recap

Design 1st was proud to be a presenting sponsor of Maker Faire Ottawa for the 4th consecutive year. And this year’s event was the largest yet, with 9,500 attendees coming out to meet the makers, inventors, tinkerers and local artists at the Aberdeen Pavilion.

Even the Mayor of Ottawa, Jim Watson got in on the excitement, designating November 7-8 Maker Weekend across the city.

But for Design 1st the 2015 Maker Faire Ottawa started several months earlier in May 2015, with the launch of the D1 Maker Lab - a summer internship program. The D1 Maker Lab was where several of our projects on display at the Maker Faire were conceived, developed, prototyped and designed including:
  • - Makey Wall
  • - Internet HockeyNET Shootout Challenge
  • - IoT Twitter Fish
